Open House – Makers, Making & Machines

Sat 21st & Sun 22nd : “Workshops In Action” tour - every 60 mins (11am-4pm)

BloQs is getting ready to welcome you on what promises to be a day of bustle and activity in our manufacturing workshops. Watch machines at work, see people making, have lunch, get making yourself and learn about how this exciting part of our city is changing and growing.

There will be tours on both days each hour from 11 am so you can see makers at work and watch as machines and people make and create the things we use every day.

Our digital machines will be making and demonstrating their capabilities throughout the day, so you be able to witness our exciting new Haas CNC Mill creating components, our enormous Biesse Router at work cutting and engraving wood and wood composites and peer in as our Trotec Laser Cutter shuttles busily about its work.

There’s even an opportunity you to get making too! In our sewing studio you’ll be able to make and decorate your own tote bag as a useful memento of your visit to us. No need to book, after going on a tour you’ll be able to make and decorate a bag there and then using our sewing machines. Allow about 30 to 40 minutes for taking part in this activity.

Building BloQs is in the heart of Meridian Water, the exciting £6 billion transformation of Enfield, creating 10,000 homes and thousands of jobs. You be able to see an architect’s model of the development displayed in our studio and understand how the area is undergoing huge regeneration.

The BloQs Café is open too 10 till 5 serving food and drink all weekend. See artworks displayed by BloQs Member Lucy Crump and take a break on your day out exploring our capital’s hidden wonders.
